Trevor van Reimsdyk is presented framed original CBA jersey by ice hockey coach Ryan Bogan ‘94
Lincroft, N.J.- Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) welcomed home Stanley Cup Champion and 2009 graduate Trevor van Reimsdyk of Middletown with a campus celebration on July 30. Several hundred alumni, teachers, and community members enjoyed the afternoon event which included a chance to take photos with van Reimsdyk and the Stanley Cup.
In this his first professional season, van Reimsdyk skated in four Stanley Cup Final games on the way to the Blackhawks’ Game 6 win over Tampa Bay on June 15. Each year upon presentation of the trophy to the championship team, a summer of celebration begins, as each of the organization’s players and staff enjoy 24 hours with the Cup. van Reimsdyk included CBA among several local stops during his day with the trophy on July 30.
A ceremony of gift presentations was kicked off by CBA’s Pipes and Drums and a procession with van Reimsdyk, the Stanley Cup, and CBA’s state championship ice hockey team. van Reimsdyk was then presented with cuff links with the CBA logo and a crystal award from CBA ice hockey alumni and his framed original CBA jersey by ice hockey coach Ryan Bogan ‘94. A new banner congratulating van Reimsdyk was also unveiled and will hang at the Jersey Shore Arena, home ice to CBA’s hockey team. van Reimsdyk also organized the raffling off of his signed jersey, with proceeds benefitting Room in Our Hearts, a non-profit that aids families affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“My time at CBA was the best four years and a place that helped me grow as a man,” said van Reimsdyk. “The first thing that came to mind was bringing the Cup here to CBA to celebrate. It’s great to come back and bring the Cup as a small thank you to this community.”
Signed as a free agent in March 2014, van Reimsdyk recently extended his contract with the Blackhawks through the 2018 season. He previously recorded 75 points (16G, 59A) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire. During his senior year at CBA, he was the leading scorer with 11 goals with 47 assists in 29 games and helped the Colts reach the state championship.
“CBA could not be more proud of Trevor on all of the success he has had since graduating from The Academy. He provided leadership and a winning attitude while in a Colts uniform, and we are happy to see he has continued to shine as a professional, helping the Chicago Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup Championship,” said Vito Chiaravalloti ’99, athletic director. “We are excited and thankful that Trevor has decided to include us in his special day, sharing one of the most prestigious trophies in the world with the CBA community.”
