ASBURY PARK, NJ  -  Oceanfront restaurant and bar Langosta Lounge today announced it will host a charitable tapas-style dinner on Monday, May 18 to raise funds for the recovery efforts happening throughout earthquake-stricken Nepal.  Available between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the dinner will offer guests a seven-course tapas menu that is reminiscent of the restaurant’s vacation-inspired cuisine.  Langosta Lounge will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the tapas dinner to the non-profit organization Waves for Water’s Nepal Relief Initiative.

“Following Hurricane Sandy, Waves for Water initiated a remarkable grassroots recovery effort at the Jersey Shore that helped restore our community.    Recognizing the immensity of need in Nepal, we are happy to support Waves for Water’s on-the-ground efforts there,” commented Marilyn Schlossbach, owner and executive chef of Langosta Lounge and the Marilyn Schlossbach Group.

With a mission to bring clean drinking water to every person in need, Waves for Water works to teach communities across the globe how to use portable water filters.  In Nepal, the organization will distribute portable water filtration systems to community centers, refugee camps and families in need.  During the second phase of recovery, Waves for Water will expand its program to offer long-term solutions.  The organization will implement rainwater harvesting programs at schools and medical clinics, restore dead wells and pumps, and continue to assist new regions beyond ground zero.

More than two weeks since the magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck the region, Nepal’s National Emergency Operations Center tallies more than 8,000 deaths and 17,500 injuries, with 366 still missing today.  Approximately 10 percent of the country’s homes have been destroyed.

Langosta Lounge’s charitable tapas dinner in support of Nepal is $35 per person and available between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18 at the oceanfront restaurant, located in the Second Avenue Pavilion of the Asbury Park Boardwalk, 1000 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park.  Reservations are recommended.  To learn more or to reserve a table, please call Langosta Lounge at 732-455-3275 or visit www.LangostaLounge.com.
