Lincroft, NJ - The topic of the May 17th meeting of the Monmouth County Genealogy Society will be “Using Social Media in Genealogical Research” presented by Casey Zahn.  The meeting which is free and open to the public will be at 1:30 PM at the Eatontown Community Center, 72 Broad Street.

Casey Zahn, a widely known lecturer in genealogy circles, points out that many family history researchers have been turning to different forms of social media for help in how to discover genealogical clues.  How do researchers access the information they are seeking?  Casey invites us to learn how to use blogs, videos (such as YouTube), and photo sharing (as in Flickr) to make new connections in the search for more information.

Ms. Zahn is a third grade teacher in Robbinsville, NJ and a former trustee of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey.  She has written two teacher guides for the National Genealogical Society and has had two articles about teaching genealogy to children published in Heritage Quest magazine.

A native of Norwich, CT, she resides in Pennington, NJ with her husband and often goes home to New England to seek out her relatives, past and present.
