HIGHLANDS, NJ -  The American Legion, Post 143, in cooperation with boat owner CAPT Matt McCluskey, is sponsoring a series of nine fishing trips exclusively for veterans wounded in battle.

The half day trips, aboard McCluskey’s boat, the Bulls Eye, will be held each of the five Saturdays in May, and offered at either 8 a.m. or noon. The trips include poles and bait for each wounded warrior in addition to the no-cost trip.

 

A  “Legion Fish Fry” will be held for fishermen and their families at the post home on Saturday, May 30, culminating the month long series of fishing trips. A trophy for the largest fish will be presented at the luncheon. 

Wounded Warriors interested in applying for the boat trip can contact Mark Spillane, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or sign up at the post home on Bay Avenue any day between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Applicants must submit their name, Name, a copy of their DD214, e-mail, phone number, and the date and time requested. Each trip is limited to five wounded warriors and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The boat will depart from Bahrs Restaurant & Marina, Bay Ave.
