MIDDLETOWN, NJ - A township man, reported missing on Monday has been located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this morning.
Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced earlier today that law enforcement officials and family members of the 55-year-old township man were to hold a press conference at 11 a.m. this morning to discuss the status of the ongoing investigation at the Middletown Police Department.
Investigators were seeking the public’s assistance in locating Anthony Tassello, a 55-year-old Middletown man, who was reported missing on Monday evening by family members. Tassello had last been seen around 9:15 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015.
The vehicle he was driving, a white 2008 Ford Escape, was one of five vehicles burned during a suspicious fire at the Tom’s Ford dealership on Route 35 in Keyport, on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015.
This morning the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office send a brief notice to alert media that the press conference had been cancelled. The office wrote, "The press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Middletown Police Department today has been cancelled. Anthony Tassello, the 55-year-old Middletown man who was reported missing on Monday evening by family members, was located this morning in Fort Lauderdale, Fla."
Charles Webster, Public Information Officer for the Prosecutor's Office said Fort Lauderlade police were able to locate Mr. Tassello and spoke with him this morning. He sent another press release minutes laters indicating that Mr. Tassello was "alive and well".
The joint investigation is being conducted by the Middletown and Keyport Police Departments and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
