MERCER COUNTY - The premiere Dragon Boat Festival in the state of New Jersey, Paddle for Pink is presented at Mercer County Park Lake each June, and registration is now open to teams to take advantage of a early bird discount. This year’s festival will be held on Saturday June 13, 2015. New Jersey’s largest charity community Dragon Boat Festival is hosted by the Machestic Dragons of Mercer County, New Jersey’s first breast cancer survivor’s dragon boat team.
Paddle for Pink celebrates the ninth anniversary of the race and festival with fun on and off the water of the beautiful Mercer Lake Finish Tower Field Area. Saturday, June 13, 2015 is the date to remember. Each year the event has grown in participation and support, PFP is known to provide an exciting day for paddlers and spectators alike.
This year the event has a new website, www.paddleforpink.org where teams and individuals can register to race to raise funds for breast cancer charities in this exciting event.
Community participation makes this festival special. Twenty paddlers make up a dragon boat team and race against other teams in their division. Teams of educators, neighbors and friends, students, business sponsored teams, semi-professionals and teams compiled of all women make up this potpourri of fun lovers that will compete for medals and bragging rights while helping to support charitable causes. To date over sixty thousand dollars have been donated by the Machestic’s to area charities. Register a team early to take advantage of the discounted registration cost.
Early bird registration fee for PFP is 900 for Community Teams and 800 for Breast cancer Survivor Teams until February 20, 2015, afterwards registration cost is 1000 and 900 respectively. Registration includes 1 practice on the water with coaching and equipment provided by the Machestics.
The festival benefits local families affected by breast cancer, this years beneficiaries are, BCRC, Breast Cancer Resource Center of Princeton, where there is never a charge for services provided to breast cancer patients and survivors, along with The Cancer Institute of NJ @ RWJ in New Brunswick.
On land enjoy live music and entertainment, ceremonies, a silent auction, food and more. Vendors may reserve a space to support this cause. There will also be a 50/50 raffle drawing. The Machestic Dragons welcome volunteer hands-on support from organizations and individuals as well as donations to make this festival fruitful.
