FARMINGDALE, NJ - Every day, girls are inundated with negative messages and behaviors that prevent them from building healthy relationships and ideals about their potential. Starting October 25, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore will participate in National Stand Beside Her Week to raise awareness of a new movement dedicated to mentoring, supporting and developing women and girls.

The purpose of Stand Beside Her is to develop the next generation of girl leaders and to create a world where all women and girls are appreciated for their talents, strengths and uniqueness. Through the initiative, women and girls will find mentors and advocates who will help them end comparison and competition, and create more collaboration and support for females everywhere.

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore invites the public to stand with them to support girls and women during the launch of this national effort. Visit Girl Scout service centers in Farmingdale (242 Adelphia Road) and Toms River (1405 Old Freehold Road) to share how you will Stand Beside Her by filling out one of our Stand Beside Her posters. Your support will be displayed in both service centers as we look to change our current culture so every girl and woman can reach her fullest potential. For more information, visit
