LINCROFT, NJ — From start to finish, Thompson Park Day is fun for the whole family! A celebration of the season, the event is held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 at Thompson Park, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Free activities include canoeing on Marlu Lake (weather permitting), kids’ races, and entertainment. Other free offerings include the Meet the Mustangs, Dash for Cash, Zany Zombies and Discover Walnford. Activities requiring a ticket (each ticket costs $3) are grab n’ go ceramics, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, inflatable rides, archery, Dixie Turbo Tubs, Bungee Trampoline and Dixie Little Swinger. The Creative Arts Center will be offering Fired Up Ceramics for five tickets.
The Park System’s annual scarecrow contest will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entries are $10 in advance or five tickets the day of event. The Friends of the Parks will be holding their “Strut Your Mutt” doggie costume contest as well. The event will also feature pie-eating contests. The children’s pie-eating contest is at 1 p.m. and the adults’ pie-eating contest begins at 1:15 p.m. These contests are free but registration is required and starts at 11 a.m. in the kids' races area.
