FARMINGDALE, NJ – The Brookdale Community College Foundation’s 35th Annual Education Open Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18 at Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club in Farmingdale.
The all day event will feature driving range access at Eagle Oaks prior to a “mega” buffet brunch beginning at 10:30 a.m. The shotgun start for the full scramble tournament is set for 11:30 a.m. Golf carts and special gifts are included.
Following an afternoon on the greens, golfers are free to enjoy a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres followed by a gourmet awards dinner beginning at 6 p.m.
The evening will feature awards presentations for individuals and teams, including special prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive, as well as blind skins games, a 50/50 cash raffle, silent and live auctions and much more. Varying levels of participation and sponsorship are available.
The Open will benefit the foundation’s “Building Minds, Building Futures” scholarship fund, which provided more than $325,000 in scholarships to nearly 450 students during the 2013-14 school year.
The scholarships are awarded to primarily working-class students who don’t qualify for federal or state aid but still have a financial need, said Timothy Zeiss, executive director of the foundation.
“Many of these students work full-time to pay for their education, making it difficult to juggle jobs and school simultaneously,” Zeiss said. “The scholarships allow them more time to concentrate on their studies and complete their degree.”
Over the past ten years, the foundation has raised nearly $3 million and provided scholarships to more than 6,000 students.
