Neptune, NJ – Monmouth and Ocean counties are the heart of the famous Jersey Shore. The miles of coastline become filled during the summer months with people on the boardwalks and beaches. But, as the season comes to an end, people return to school again and forget that there are people struggling with hunger throughout these areas. This is the time when most food bank shelves are the emptiest. Approximately 128,290 residents of Monmouth and Ocean counties are food insecure, 40 percent being children.
To address this immediate need, Move For Hunger is proud to announce our First Annual Jersey Shore Truck Pull on Saturday, September 13th. The event will take place at The Headliner at 1401 Route 35 Neptune, NJ with sponsors such as local radio station WRAT 95.9 and Miller Lite.
Starting at 3 pm in a tug of war style competition, teams of 10 will be competing to pull a truck across the finish line in the fastest time. At 5:30 pm, the event will move inside for an after party where guests can pay a $5 donation cover charge or bring 5 non-perishables for our food drive to enter. Come out and enjoy live music, drink specials, BBQ, raffles and prizes and help us fight hunger.
“We are celebrating two major milestones; our 5th year anniversary AND having delivered 3.5 million pounds of food to those in need” says Adam Lowy, Executive Director of More For Hunger. “Instead of a fancy gala, we’re excited to hold this First Annual Jersey Shore Truck Pull and see people test their strength and pull for hunger.”
