Long Branch, N.J. – 24-year-old Audrey Kate Geiger is preparing for her second performance on “Rising Star,” ABC’s newest hit singing competition show. Geiger will battle another contestant in the “duel” round during this Sunday’s live broadcast.
For her first appearance on the show, Geiger sang a cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me,” earning her a place in the next round and favorable reviews from the experts. Hip-hop star Ludacris said of Geiger’s performance “The word for me is ‘unique’… It took me somewhere else, it was hauntingly beautiful.” Country singer and fellow expert Brad Paisley added “You’ve got this soulful thing. You don’t sound like anybody else.”
For Geiger, appearing on the show has been a transformative journey. “This experience has changed my life in more ways than one,” she explained. “It’s justified what I’ve been working for, and has taught me that no matter what you want, fulfilling your dreams is absolutely possible.”
Geiger was born and raised in West Long Branch, NJ and grew up with an innate love for the ocean. She currently resides in New York City to pursue her dream of singing, while performing in chosen venues and working as a waitress and yoga instructor. Geiger inherited her passion for music from her father, a former member of the rock band Mallard.
Audrey Kate is the daughter of Brian and Shawn Geiger, and has one brother, Justin.
Watch Geiger perform live this Sunday, July 27th at 9:00 pm EDT. You can download ABC’s free “Rising Star” app and vote for your favorites in the duel rounds.
