LONG BRANCH, NJ - Buoyed by brilliant blue skies and summer-like temperatures, more than 200 guests turned out in style to celebrate the return of spring at the 57th Navarumsunk Auxiliary Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, Wednesday, May 7 at Branches in Long Branch. The annual event is anticipated to raise more than $10,000 for Family & Children's Service (FCS), Monmouth County's oldest nonprofit social service agency whose mission is to provide compassionate care, intervention and education to support people during challenging times in their lives.

"We are thrilled with the success of this year's luncheon," said Maureen Hintelmann, who together with Auxiliary co-president Maureen Kachinski, chaired this year's event. "We received tremendous support from the local business community and our auxiliary members. The contributions to our chance auction were some of the best yet!"

Hintelmann says the luncheon committee was also delighted to see so many new faces in the crowd. "Many of our members and their friends have been attending the luncheon for decades," Hintelmann added. "It's nice to know the tradition continues with the younger generation."

The lunchtime fashion show, hosted by Le Papillion boutique in Rumson, featured the latest collection of spring dresses, jackets, purses, scarves and accessories by favorite designers. As the models sauntered through the ballroom, showing off their outfits, many guests took the opportunity to get a closer look and ask questions. A portion of the proceeds of all merchandise purchased at the show also went to FCS.

Founded in 1957, the Navarumsunk Auxiliary of FCS adopted its name from the Native American tribe that inhabited the Rumson Fair Haven peninsula. The organization has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for FCS over the years through the auxiliary's annual luncheon and benefit bridge tournament which takes place each September. The auxiliary is always looking for new members and the luncheon is a great way to get acquainted with the organization and its dedicated volunteers.
