MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM TO HOLD ITS FIRST

7 PREZ SK8 JAM

mcps 7 prez sk8 jamLONG BRANCH--  Calling all skaters!  Head over to the 7 Prez SK8 Jam on Saturday, May 10 (rain date May 11) from 8am-3pm and enjoy amateur competitions, live music, and a pro skater demonstration. Hosted by the Monmouth County Park System, this event will be held at the Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park Skateplex, Ocean Avenue, Long Branch.

Skaters will have the chance to compete on the street course for awards in beginner, intermediate and advanced skill groups.  Contestants will compete for two-minute runs. Top competitors from each group will skate additional runs until there are three top finishers.  The schedule is as follows:

 

9-10am:  Beginners (ages 6-16)

10-11am:  Intermediate (ages 6 and up)

11:30am-12:30pm:  Advanced (ages 6 and up)

A bowl contest will be held from 1-2pm.  Skaters age 6 and up will compete in 90-second runs until there are three top finishers.  Please note:  Helmets must be worn by all competitors.  Be sure to catch the Pro Skateboard Shop Team showing off their best moves from 12:30-1pm and live music from 1-3pm.  The event also features local skateboard and food vendors.

Registration is $15 per skater per competition and is available online at www.monmouthcountyparks.com and by phone at 732-842-4000, ext. 1.  Park System staff will accept registration at the Skateplex on Thursday, May 8 from 5-7pm and on event day starting at 8am.
