SAYREVILLE, NJ –The March of Dimes was pleased to honor New Jersey Senator Jennifer Beck, New Jersey Assemblyman Herb Conaway and Elizabeth A. Ryan, CEO & President, New Jersey Hospital Association, Inc. at its Celebration of New Beginnings breakfast. They were presented with the “FDR Visionary Award” for their outstanding leadership and support of the mission of the March of Dimes - to prevent premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

The Keynote Speaker for the event was Dr. Christopher J. Malloy, PhD, RPh, Senior Vice President, Research and Economic Development, Rutgers, New Jersey State University. Michellene Davis, Esq, Senior Vice President for Policy Development and Governmental Affairs, Barnabas Health, Livingston, and Chairperson of the Celebration of New Beginnings Planning Committee, emceed the event. Sabrina Abramson of Woodcliff Lakes and the Family Teams Committee Chair for the Bergen County March for Babies walk, shared her personal story about her premature daughter.
The March of Dimes Celebration of New Beginnings is a testimonial event that was launched in 1999 to expand awareness of the progress and promise of cutting-edge research in the areas of maternal and infant health. Over the past 13 years, the event has honored distinguished community and corporate leaders that support the March of Dimes’ efforts to save babies.
This year’s event, which was attended by over 100 people, was held at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey on December 13, 2013. The event was sponsored by Pfizer, Inc., Barnabas Health Systems, Children’s Specialized Hospital & Robert Wood Johnson, Jersey City Medical Center, New Jersey Hospital Association, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Inc., and Virtua.
