All five County career academies listed in top 10 SAT scores in NJ

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County’s career academies continue to demonstrate that they are the best college-prep high schools in the state of New Jersey, holding the top SAT scores among NJ public schools.

“The rankings of the County’s career academies in the top NJ SAT scores did not surprise me,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the County Vocational School District. “These academies are truly superior and their commitment to academic excellence is evident by these SAT scores.”  

The New Jersey Department of Education released the list of the 15 NJ public high schools with the highest SAT scores and Monmouth County’s career academies hold five of the top ten spots.

“The fact that the five academies have attained the top SAT scores in the state is a testament to the students, teachers and staff of these schools,” said Tim McCorkell, superintendent of the County Vocational School District. “It is also a testament to the local Kindergarten through eighth grade districts on which our students build their success.”

High Technology High School holds the number one spot with an average SAT total of 2113. Biotechnology High School came in fifth with an average SAT total of 1979, the Academy of Allied Health and Science took sixth with an average SAT total of 1957, Communications High School was ranked eighth with an average SAT total of 1911 and the Marine Academy of Science and Technology came in tenth with an average SAT total of 1863.

“The career academies continue to impress by achieving top rankings among not only New Jersey public high schools, but public high schools nationwide,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Serena DiMaso, who oversees the County’s Commerce and Education. “The students and teachers of the career academies should be applauded fortheir tremendous accomplishments.”
