Children and Families Commissioner Joins to Discuss Programs that Assist Families
RED BANK, NJ - On Monday, September 16, New Jersey Health Commissioner Mary E. O’Dowd will visit the Visiting Nursing Association of Central Jersey to announce increased funding for case management services for families with special needs children. This funding is provided though the U.S Department of Health and Human Services' Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) in recognition of an increased need for more intensive case management services following Superstorm Sandy.
During her visit, the Commissioner will facilitate a roundtable with parents of special needs children and case management workers that will discuss how these services help this vulnerable population. Department of Children and Families (DCF) Commissioner Allison Blake will join the discussion and will speak about the network of services available for New Jersey families including Family Success Centers, the Home Visitation Initiative and programs that assist displaced homemakers.
The roundtable discussion will begin at 1pm at the VNA of Central Jersey’s office located at 176 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank.
