Edison, NJ – The Indian Business Association (“IBA”), a non-profit organization, will host the Official New Jersey India Day Parade for the 9th consecutive year on August 11, 2013. The IBA Parade, which will begin at 1:30 PM, will traverse trough the heart of New Jersey’s “Little India.” Resuming its traditional route, the IBA parade will be staged on Cinder Road, in Edison, New Jersey (behind the Lincoln Technical Institute) and run the length of Oak Tree Road, ending in Iselin, New Jersey.
Based on past attendance figures, over 35,000 are expected to attend the IBA parade. The parade will include approximately 20 floats, sponsored by corporate donors and civic organizations. Over 100 New Jersey based Indo-American groups will be represented at the IBA parade. The annual parade draws spectators from across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and as far away as Massachusetts and Maryland.
Many elected officials will also be on hand. Both New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno and Gubernatorial hopeful, Senator Barbara Buono, are scheduled to join the IBA Parade. Local officials, including Woodbridge Mayor McCormac, members of the Edison Town Council and members of the Woodbridge Council will also be in attendance, along with State Legislators and County Freeholders.
Film and television star, Bollywood actress Rashami Desai will be leading the parade as Grand Marshal She will be joined by other celebrities, including Bollywood Star Gulshan Grover, who has appeared in over 400 films. A cultural program, held on the Iselin side of Oak Tree Road, will follow the parade and include a variety of local talent.
