Yesterday, Kenneth Kaplan submitted to the Division of Elections the name of his pick for Lieutenant Governor.  His choice is Brenda Faith Bell, a 53 year old diabetes and health advocate from North Plainfield.

“I have known Brenda for a number of years, and admire her passion for causes she believes in,” said Kaplan.  “She is originally from Long Beach, NY, and grew up on the barrier beach, so she is familiar with some of the ecological and economic issues of beach towns.  Her experience will be invaluable as our shore towns continue to recover from Super Storm Sandy.”

Ms. Bell attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied nuclear engineering and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree.  While at MIT, she was a member of the women’s fencing team.

Brenda began her community service as a Girl Scout in the Nassau and Patriots’ Trail councils.  In more recent years, she has been a member of Friends of the Faire, supporting the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY.  She is active in the American Diabetes Association, and currently serves on the Tour de Cure Committee.  She is also a Red Rider, the designation for a participant in the tour who has diabetes.

She is very knowledgeable about computers, and is Secretary of the Amateur Computer Group of New Jersey.  She is also active in STARFLEET, the Star Trek fan association. Brenda, who is employed in sales, lives in North Plainfield with her partner of twenty-three years, Frank Warren Jr.
