Non-Profit Organizations Operating in New Jersey Sandy Relief Efforts Encouraged to Apply 

Morristown, NJ - The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund announced the launch of its rolling online grant application for eligible non-profit organizations providing Sandy specific disaster relief and recovery services in New Jersey. The Fund's focus areas include: housing assistance, social services specific to unmet needs, financial and legal counseling, and economic development. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning Thursday, July 11th and ending Thursday, October 3rd with final announcements expected on Thursday, October 31st. Organizations are strongly encouraged to apply early in the application process as grants will be announced and awarded on an ongoing basis.  

The online application can be accessed on the Fund's website at www.SandyNJReliefFund.org. The Fund expects to award up to $5 million in grants during this application period.

Grant eligibility requirements and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page are available on the Fund's website. Applicants must be a registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit. Proposals will be evaluated on several criteria including organizational capacity, track record of success, project alignment to priority funding areas, clarity of project implementation, budget and expected outcomes, and opportunity for impact. The minimum grant request is $10,000. 

The Fund will continue to post all grant awards on its website and track distributed dollars from start to finish, ensuring applicants are delivering the promised assistance to families and communities according to their approved proposals.

Currently the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund is working with a variety of non-profits across the state helping individuals, families, communities and small businesses recover and rebuild. To date the Relief Fund has awarded 51 grants totaling $11 million.
