Free seminars and programs offered throughout the month 

NEPTUNE, NJ – The Monmouth County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of July, covering a variety of issues including home improvement, vacation scams and family genealogy.

“The County Connection is an excellent resource for our residents,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone. “July is full of informative workshops and, as always, they are all free of charge.”

On Thursday, July 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the Monmouth County Genealogy Society will present the first of a two-part series on beginner’s genealogy. This session will help amateur genealogists learn the best places to start tracing their family tree.  The second session, on Thursday, July 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., will include organization practices, research and organization tips.

The County Department of Health will present “Strong Bones,” a six-week program all about your bones and health starting on Monday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to noon.  Presented by Pat Mannino, RN, and Terry Ruane, RN, this program will be held on six consecutive Mondays at 11 a.m. Learn about osteoporosis prevention, osteoarthritis, what you can eat to help your bones, how to talk to your doctor, how to prevent falls, reducing stress through meditation, and so much more. 

A “Home Improvement Hiring How-To” workshop will be offered by the County Division of Consumer Affairs with the County Connection on Wednesday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From contracts and riders to insurance, references, liability and state registration this workshop will teach the non-contractor what to know before hiring a home improvement specialist. 

Hear from experts from the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, County Division of Consumer Affairs and County Clerk’s passport office at a vacation travel scams workshop on Tuesday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This program is a must for anyone looking to save money on travel.

How healthy is your home? Is it a sanctuary or is it making you and your family sick? In the “Healthy Homes” workshop on Wednesday, July 24 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. you’ll learn about the prevalence of lead in homes and toys, the dangers of cleaning agents, things that cause or irritate your asthma, and so much more. Presented by the County Department of Health, this workshop can change your life!

The County Connection also offers the following recurring programs every month:

  • Meet with a Medicare Counselor every Wednesday by appointment.


  • Meet with a Monmouth County Surrogate’s Officer on first and third Thursdays by appointment.
  • Meet with Monmouth County Veteran Services Office on second and fourth Thursdays by appointment.

All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828.

The Monmouth County Connection is located in the strip mall at 3544 State Highway 66 in Neptune, adjacent to the Home Depot and across the street from Walmart.  The office offers a variety of services including passports, passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers and more.

The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M. Claire French and is supported by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
