Long Branch, NJ - The American Heart Association | American Stroke Association invites the Jersey Shore community to attend its annual Heart Ball on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, NJ . The evening will honor the extraordinary contributions of Monmouth and Ocean County leaders while helping to raise awareness and funds to support the Association's mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

Chaired by Mary Ann Larkin and Mary Weir with honorary chairs, Joseph & Anita Roselle, participants will enjoy a fun theme of 'Denim and Diamonds' while dancing the night away with live music and entertainment from The Infernos. The evening will also include a silent auction, live auction, mouth-watering cuisine and prime networking opportunities.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death of Americans, claiming an estimated 2,400 lives each day-which averages one death every 37 seconds. However, research suggests that nearly 80% of cardiac events may be prevented if certain risk factors are controlled, such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking. The American Heart Association | American Stroke Association is focused on raising awareness of these deadly diseases while empowering members of the community to take action to reduce their risk. Additionally, research focused on cardiovascular wellness serves as a priority for the organization, with thousands of lives being saved because of American Heart Association-funded treatments and procedures, such as CPR, coronary bypass surgery, heart valve replacement and the pacemaker. But there is much more work to be done.

Save the date and join the 'best of the best' of Ocean and Monmouth counties on June 21st at the Heart Ball. To reserve tickets or learn more, visit www.heart.org/monmouthoceanheartball.
