KEYPORT, NJ - A massive motorcycle run and rally to raise funds for those who suffered from Hurricane Sandy will be held tomorrow starting in Keyport and ending in Brick Township.
The 66-mile run is labeled "Roar to Restore the Shore." All proceeds will go to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by Mary Pat Christie, the governor's wife, and the Brick Township Sandy Fund.
The run will begin at 1 p.m. in the waterfront parking lot on American Legion Drive in Keyport. Check in is at 11 a.m.
The cost is $20 per rider and $15 per passenger with participants receiving a "Roar to Restore the Shore" patch.
The police-escorted run ends at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867 at 373 Adamston Rd., Brick, where he rally will be held.
In between, motorcyclists will ride east along the Keyport waterfront through hard-hit Union Beach, back onto Route 36 into Keansburg, and then on to the Keansburg beachfront. The run then goes south on Laurel avenue back to Route 36, turning west and proceeding to Garden State Parkway Exit 117.
From there, the run heads south to Exit 102 in Tinton Falls and east on Route 66 to Route 35 at the Asbury Circle. Riders will then proceed south on Route 35 to Seaside Heights, then turn around and go north to the Mantaloking Bridge and then west on Mantaloking road to the VFW post.
At the post, riders, vendors and the general public will participate in a rally where there will be musical entertainment, food and beverages available to purchase. Vendors will be charged $50 and up for a space at the VFW post.
