New Jersey – There’s a terrific feeling of “freedom” when biking along the Jersey Shore. The cooler morning air when the mist begins to burn off is one of the best times of day to pedal near the beach. This feeling is what draws hundreds of participants to the annual Bike MS “Coast the Coast” event.
The New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is challenging bike riders to join the 22nd Annual Bike MS “Coast the Coast” ride, and experience the ride of a lifetime.
The Coast the Coast Ride is the premier Jersey Shore cycling event and every year participants pedal through coastal towns, while enjoying all of the sights and sounds of the Jersey Shore. This year that tradition of riding along the coast will continue. Although our beloved beaches have been battered the coastal towns have been responding as quickly as possible to rebuild their municipalities and get back in business. We are excited to be one of the first events along the shore that will kick off the summer season and welcome visitors from Long Branch to Cape May!
While cyclists ride for many different reasons – camaraderie with other riders, exercise, the challenge, an organized tour, or fundraising – their efforts cumulatively aid in contributing toward the creation of a world free of multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system. This year your support of this event will not only help those living with multiple sclerosis it will help our coastal communities to continue the process of recovering.
On May 18th and 19th, the Bike MS “Coast the Coast” Ride will kick off the summer, providing a great biking experience for novice through expert cyclists. Community members are invited to be part of this yearly tradition that continues to provide fun for family and friend teams and competitive cyclist teams alike. From the family fun 25-mile ride, to the endurance challenge of the 170-mile ride, the Bike MS “Coast the Coast” ride truly offers a weekend of enjoyment and fitness for everyone.
Riders Enjoy Shore Scenery and Bike SupportAs individual and team cyclists pedal segments or the full distance from West Long Branch to Cape May, they will witness some of the most beautiful scenery that the Jersey coastline has to offer, all while enjoying a fully supported and inspirational event. The events have refreshment stations, bike repair support crews, first aid professionals, and support vans to aid riders on the courses.
All funds raised from the event will support critical MS research programs and fund local programs and services for those who are impacted by the disease, including more than 13,000 people in New Jersey and more than 400,000 people nationwide.
Cyclists and volunteers are welcome to register online at www.bikenjm.nationalMSsociety.org. Upon registering, they will have access to online fundraising tools, making fundraising easier and more convenient than ever. Now is the time to join the movement.
The Bike MS “Coast the Coast” is the first of the NJ Metro Chapter’s three-part Bike MS Ride Series. The “Hops to Hops” ride (Sept. 15th) and the “Great New Jersey Country Bike Ride” (Sept. 21st & 22nd) will finish off the series in early fall.
