FREEHOLD, NJ Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni will announce the activation of a new county-wide effort to combat unscrupulous contractors and con-artists who are attempting to scam residents victimized by Superstorm Sandy.

Prosecutor Gramiccioni will be joined by federal, state, county and local partnering agencies to discuss the scope of the initiative at a press conference Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.

Communities in Monmouth County from the Bayshore region to the Manasquan Inlet were devastated by Superstorm Sandy: More than 32,000 residents and business owners in Monmouth County have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which has provided just under $70 million in assistance to help residents get their lives back in order. The initiative is designed to tackle the expected invasion of fly-by-night contractors, salespeople and others looking to prey on Monmouth residents and profit from this disaster.
