CELEBRATE THE SEASON IN THE PARKS

LINCROFT — Whether you’re looking to explore nature or create a memory, the Monmouth County Park System is the place to be this December!  Throughout the month, the Park System has planned fun, family-friendly, drop-in programs including Roving Park System Naturalist, Open Shoot Archery and Visit with Santa.  The schedule is:

 

Parent/Child Morning Chores

                Saturday, December 1 at 8am

                Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel

Rise and shine! Come help the staff with morning chores by milking a cow, collecting eggs and feeding the animals.  The cost is $15 per parent/child pair; $5 per additional sibling.  Cash or check only.

Student/Instructor Show and Sale

Saturday, December 1 from 11am-6pm
Sunday, December 2 from 12noon-4pm

Thompson Park Creative Arts Center, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft

Kick off your holiday shopping or find the perfect accent piece for your home by browsing the original artwork of our students and instructors.

Stockings Hung by the Chimney with Care

                Sunday, December 2 from 1-3pm

                Historic Walnford, Walnford Road, Upper Freehold

Create a simple paper and yarn stocking that holds a few traditional treats to take home.

 

Roving Park System Naturalist

Saturday, December 8 at 10am
Holmdel Park, Longstreet Road, Holmdel

Tuesday, December 18 at 10am

Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, Ocean Avenue, Long Branch

Join our roving Park System Naturalist for a walk and learn about seasonal points of interest.

 

Christmas Sing-a-Long

                Saturday, December 8 from 1-3pm

                Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel

                Visit with Rick Garland as he plays the piano for an old-fashioned sing-a-long.

Open Shoot Archery

Saturday, December 15 from 12noon-3pm
Thompson Park Activity Barn, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft
Try your hand at archery during this open shoot. All equipment will be provided. This is a non-instructional program open to ages 8 and up (under 18 with adult). The cost is $5 per person. Cash or check only.

Seasonal Senses

                Saturday & Sunday, December 15 & 16 from 1-4pm

                Historic Walnford, Walnford Road, Upper Freehold

See, touch and smell an array of spices used in historical recipes.

 

Santa’s Reindeer Return

                Sunday, December 16 from 1-1:45pm

                Thompson Park Creative Arts Center, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft

Youngsters age 3-8 (with adult) are invited to enjoy some hot chocolate and make a bag of magical reindeer dust. The cost is $5 per child.  Cash or check only. 


Winter Walk

                Saturday & Sunday, December 22 & 23 at 11am

                Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Georgia Tavern Road, Howell

Take a break from the season’s hustle and bustle with a winter walk.  Meet in the lobby.

 

Visit with Santa

Saturday & Sunday, December 22 & 23 from 12noon-3pm

Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel

Enjoy an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas at Longstreet Farm! Get into the spirit of the holiday during a visit with Santa. Parents are welcome to bring a camera to capture the moment. Afterwards, tour the farmhouse and enjoy a cup of cider.

The Sounds of Christmas

                Sunday, December 23 from 1-3pm

                Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel

Enjoy Christmas carols played by Larry Moser and Mary Nagen on the hammered dulcimer and fiddle.
