Deadline for submission is Dec.1

HILLSBOROUGH, Nj. - The New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA) is currently accepting nominations for the 18th Annual Animal Hall of Fame.

Every year, the NJVMA commemorates the human-animal bond by recognizing exceptional animals and individuals who have had a positive impact on animal welfare, by inducting them into the NJVMA Animal Hall of Fame. Every day these animals show unwavering loyalty and unconditional love. It is because of this irreplaceable bond that these pets are not just animals, but are family members.

"Animals, whether they are pets, service, therapy, hero or classroom animals, have so much to teach us.  The companionship and work they do compliments our lives. Throughout history people and animals have been inseparable," explained Dr. Peter Falk, Chair of the Animal Hall of Fame Committee. "Every pet owner and veterinarian can tell you amazing stories of their pet or the ones they treat. Just some of these amazing animals will be honored at the NJVMA Animal Hall Of Fame."

To nominate your pet, please complete the NJVMA Animal Hall of Fame Application which can be found on the NJVMA website: The deadline to submit your nomination is Dec. 1, 2012. Winners will be honored at a public awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2013.

To be considered, all nominations should include an official application signed by the animal's owner, the name and contact information of the animal's veterinarian, and a letter of nomination from the animal's owner or veterinarian explaining how the animal has exhibit special abilities or has demonstrated courage. Nominations may also include additional letters of support, photographs, videos, drawings or newspaper clippings.
