Clean Ocean Action celebrated the success of an unprecedented “Tour for the Shore” at its 14th Annual Sunset Celebration
Long Branch, NJ. - “Seaside Sunset,” the relocated Clean Ocean Action annual fall celebration, was hosted for the first time at McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch’s Pier Village from 6-10 pm on Friday, October 5, 2012. Dinner, served from 6-9pm, was followed by dessert and dancing. The event, replete with beautiful water views and delicious food, featured Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), whose remarks closed the evening’s festivities.
Also speaking at the Seaside Sunset celebration were Clean Ocean Action’s Executive Director Cindy Zipf, who reviewed COA’s 2012 campaign victories and 2013 plans. Cindy Zipf also introduced Richard Lee, Executive Director and East Coast Director of Surfers’ Environmental Alliance, Margo Pellegrino, ocean paddler, and Sean Dixon, Clean Ocean Action’s staff attorney, who discuss the recently-completed “Tour for the Shore” – a 15 day campaign for a Clean Ocean Zone wherein Margo (by outrigger canoe) and Sean (by road bike) pedaled and paddled from Cape May to Montauk, stopping in every beach town in New York and New Jersey raising support for a the Clean Ocean Zone.
The party also presented an opportunity to win a Beach Cruiser Bike, Weston Gallery Jewelry, and gift certificates to over 30 area restaurants. A silent auction featured gifts, art, and event tickets from many of the NJ and NY shore communities’ most respected artists, shops, and venues.
The Seaside Sunset food and drink was provided by Lusty Lobster Seafood Market and Catering, Sickles Market, Booskerdoo Coffee Roasters, Daisy Chocolates, Holly Crest Wine Cellars, My Kitchen Witch, Wholesome Catering, and Shore Point Distributing. Dinner was provided by host McLoone’s Pier House, and flower arrangements were provided by Guaranteed Plants and Florist.
