ASBURY PARK, NJ - The 37th Annual Clearwater Festival, a free, summery mix of music, children's programs, environmental exhibits, food, crafts and more in celebration of our natural resources, will fill Sunset Park from 11 to 7 Saturday, August 11. Appropriately located on a lake near the ocean, the event is sponsored by the non-profit New Jersey Friends of Clearwater.
National and local bands, singers and singing group ranging from gospel to jazz, rock and folk will play on two stages along with the Circle Of Song.
“We invite everyone to join the fun and learn about protecting what Mother Earth gave us along the way,” said Joellen Lundy, President of NJFC. “We have worked hard to keep the festival free and we appreciate the encouragement we have received to keep doing what we're doing.”
Green Vendors, Commercial Vendors, Food Vendors and Crafters will offer their products and environmental groups will provide information about how individuals and families can protect the environment in day-to-day living, as well as group efforts to advocate for stronger laws and practices. Storytellers, singers and facepainting and environmental displays will educate and delight the youngsters at this family-friendly rite of summer.
For the fifth year, the Festival will feature an Environmental Justice Roundtable of urban and workplace leaders discussing environmental issues that dispportionately affect the young and poor in New Jersey.
Vendor applications are still being taken and volunteers are welcome. Festival information is available on the New Jersey Friends of Clearwater website www.mcclearwater.org
