Farmingdale, NJ – United Way of Monmouth County announces that their annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive will be held at four locations in the month of August in order to meet the growing demand for children’s’ school supplies. The drive is designed to help ensure that all children begin the school year with the tools they will need to succeed.

United Way of Monmouth County will be holding Stuff the Bus events at four local stores: August 10th at Target of Manalapan, August 11th at Walmart of Freehold, August 17th at Target of Howell, and August 18th at Target of Middletown.  All events will be held between 10 am-3 pm, where shoppers are invited to donate school supplies to the drive.

“Working directly with local schools, we have been able to identify those items needed most by our area children.  Providing educational supplies helps to support a child’s ability to learn while removing some of the financial burden from parents, many of whom are struggling financially right now,” says Timothy Hearne, President and CEO of United Way of Monmouth County.

In addition to offering an opportunity to donate school supplies, each site offers local volunteers a way to give their time to the drive. Volunteers are needed at each of the community events, and also to help sort donations through the month of August.  Interested volunteers should register by contacting the United Way office at 732-938-5988 ext. 2042.

More than 20 United Way corporate partners will be collecting donations for the 2012 Stuff the Bus drive.

Area groups and local businesses are welcome to hold their own school supply collections, which will become part of the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.   Contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
