Mercer County Lake will be colored Pink on Sunday June 3, 2012 when New Jersey’s largest Dragon Boat Festival to benefit breast cancer charities is held at the Marina in Mercer County Park, West Windsor, NJ   Dragon boat racing, cultural entertainment, food, merchandise vendors, a silent auction of 50 prizes, ceremonies, DJ Nebbia adds his spin to the festivities and a 50/50 raffle all to benefit breast cancer charities in New Jersey.  This event is held on National Cancer Survivor Day and survivors and supporters are invited to come and Paddle for Pink.

Amazingly this unique race will host 9 breast cancer survivor teams this year.  Women and their supporters will travel from as far as Washington DC and Albany to join their sisters on the water.   Come be encouraged there is a full life waiting after breast cancer.  Teams of 20 race in a 40 foot long canoe shaped dragon boat at this colorful regatta. All teams receive a coached practice before the event day and a commemorative gift for participating.  Metro Events organize all the on water races and The Machestic Dragons, New Jersey’s first breast cancer survivor dragon boat team are the producers and sponsors of Paddle For Pink, they have paddled on the lake seasonally for the past 10 years, this is their 6th year of offering Paddle For Pink. 

Breast Cancer Resource Center at the YWCA in Princeton will be the main benefactor of proceeds from this charity event.  There is no charge to park the day of the event or be a spectator at the festival, just follow the signs at park entrances. Racing teams aged from teens to seniors have registered to race and compete for medals, plaques and bragging rights.  There is still time to get in a boat for a great cause.  Registration for a team up to 22 persons is 800.  Join the 30 teams that have pre-registered to participate.
