a Free Seminar on Family Dynamics and Communication for Brain Tumor Families

LONG BRANCH, NJ – The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center is hosting “Brainstorm: A Dialogue and Education Series,” a free community seminar scheduled for Monday, May 7 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Monmouth Medical Center’s Borden Auditorium. Designed for those affected by all types of brain tumors, the free seminar will focus on family dynamics and communication for brain tumor families. 

Guest speakers Wendy Berk, M.S.W., LCSW and Jan Tryba, LCSW, OSW-C, licensed clinical social workers at the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center, will cover topics including understanding communication techniques; the importance of nonverbal communication; changes in family dynamics during challenging times; and suggestions for expression strong emotions. The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion featuring brain tumor survivors who will share their personal stories.

Registration (sandwiches and snacks) will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the program and panel discussion at 5:30 p.m. A free “Art is Good” workshop will be offered in a separate room for school-age children and teens whose family members are attending the Brainstorm seminar.
