LINCROFT, NJ — Calling all gardeners!  The Monmouth County Park System seeks volunteers to help garden at several Park System locations.   Those interested in learning more about this rewarding hobby are invited to attend a free workshop on Pruning Trees and Shrubs at the Thompson Park Visitor Center, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. The workshop will cover correct pruning techniques, tools and safety. Open to ages 14 and up, sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 19 from 9am-12noon.

PICTURED  - Michele Mancino of Middletown is just one of the dedicated volunteers who lends their green thumbs to the Park System.Gardening is fun, social and great exercise. Volunteers will enjoy the flexibility of the Park System’s Drop-In Volunteer Days. Held mid-April through October, volunteers are welcome to show up at their convenience and participate.

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays at Dorbrook Recreation Area, Colts Neck

Wednesdays at Thompson Park, Lincroft

Thursdays at Huber Woods Park, Middletown

Wednesdays & Saturdays at Deep Cut Gardens,

Middletown.Drop-In Volunteer Day hours are 9am-12noon at all locations. Please note that volunteers at Deep Cut Gardens must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers do not need to attend the training session to be part of the Drop-In Volunteer Days.
