Lincroft, NJ –Brookdale Community College’s Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution will host a Spring Series of presentations to be held at the Lincroft main campus, 765 Newman Springs Road in the Warner Student Life Center. Parking is most convenient in lots 6 and 7. All programs start at 7:30 p.m. The fee for each event is $12 for community, $5 for students and Brookdale students free.
March 6: Noted author and Temple University History professor Dr. Gregory Urwin kicks off the Spring 2012 WW II Studies Series with a program on “Victory in Defeat: The Wake Island Defenders.” His talk will detail what happened to the brave men who defended Wake Island in the face of overwhelming odds until being captured by the Japanese. March 27: Following Dr. Urwin is producer/director of the Brookdale TV series “Triumphant Spirit” and manager of Media Technologies at Bergen Community College, Brian Hemstreet who will speak on “WWII vs. The Iraqi Conflict: Similarities and Differences in Documenting War.” Event code: XWWTS 254 PR
April 3: Author and historian Richard Lucas will speak on “Axis Sally: The American Voice of Nazi Germany.” Event code: XWWTS 255 PR
April 17: In conjunction with the NJ Alliance to Preserve World War II History in Asia is “The Doolittle Air Raid – America Strikes Back!” Feature writer and coordinator of the WWII Center’s Veteran’s History Project, Paul Frisco, will make the presentation commemorating the event. April 24: Professors of History Fred Fraterrigo, Brookdale and John Fraterrigo, Ocean County College will speak on the all-encompassing topic “WW II from Beginning to End.” Event code: XWWTS 257 PR
May 8: Closing the Spring Series is naval historian and author J. Wandres who will speak on ‘The Ablest Navigator- Israel’s Volunteer US Admiral.” Event code: XWWTS 258 PR
