CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION COURSE

Tuesdays, January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Learn everything you need to know to prepare for the birth of your baby during this five-session course.  Education on relaxation and breathing techniques will be included.  The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. CHILDBIRTH UPDATE- VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER CESAREAN

Wednesday, January 4 from 7to 9 p.m.

Childbirth preparation review program teaches the latest breathing exercises and newest aspects of obstetrics.  For those planning a vaginal birth after cesarean, discussion will include criteria, contra-indications, preparation and more.  The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. BABY CARE BASICS

Thursdays, January 5 and 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.

PEDIATRIC PRE-OPERATIVE TOUR

Thursdays, January 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Tours for pediatric patients preparing to have a surgical procedure in the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center at Monmouth.  Tours are designed to reduce anxiety giving children a hands-on experience with medical equipment and visitation to areas they will encounter on the day of their surgery. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center in the Pediatric Playroom of the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch.  Registration is required. TWO-DAY CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION COURSE

Saturdays, January 7 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This childbirth preparation course is conveniently compacted in two sessions!  Education on relaxation and breathing techniques will be included.  A continental breakfast will be provided.  The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. TWO-DAY MARVELOUS MULTIPLES

Sundays, January 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This two-day childbirth preparation course is for those expecting twins, triplets or more. The course will cover nutrition, labor and delivery, anesthesia options, Cesarean section, relaxation techniques, risk and complications of multiple pregnancy, recovery and caring for multiples. A tour of the Regional Newborn Center is also included. Attendence is recommended for those early in the their seocnd trimester of pregnancy. GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN SUPPORT GROUP

Mondays from 10 a.m. to Noon (January 9, 23 and 30)

This support group is for any grandparent caregiver and will address the many unique challenges faced by “grand families.” Monthly “family dinners” will provide an opportunity for further support for grandparents and the children under their care.  This program will be held at the Maysie Stroock Pavilion, located at the corner of Pavilion and Second Avenues, Long Branch.   To register, call 732-730-9112.  Free.

 

MOTHER TO MOTHER SUPPORT GROUP

Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (January 9, 23 and 30)

Once your baby arrives, join other new mothers to talk about what you are experiencing.  Discussions will be led by a registered nurse on topics including infant behavior, feeding, sleeping patterns and crying, as well as recovering from childbirth.  Newborns up to age six months and fathers are welcome.  The program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch.  Registration is required by calling 732-923-6990. GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM

Monday, January 9 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Grandparents can learn about current trends in childbirth and infant care from a prenatal educator so that they can better assist and support their own children as they become parents.  A tour of the Eisenberg Family Center is included.  The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. NEW BABIES, NEW EMOTIONS SUPPORT GROUP (En Espanol)

Friday, January 13 from 3 to 4 p.m.

This support group is for new Moms with postpartum-related depression and/or baby blues.  Sponsored by the Regional Perinatal Consortium of Monmouth/Ocean Counties.  This support group, presented in Spanish, will be held at the Monmouth Family Health Center located at 80 Pavilion Avenue, Long Branch. MOMS OF MULTIPLES SUPPORT GROUP

Wednesday, January 18 from 11 to 12:30 p.m.

Come join the only Moms of Multiples Support Group in the area.  Led by a registered nurse and a mother of multiples herself – topics will include feeding and caring for more than one baby, sleep patterns and behaviors, getting out of the house, relationship changes and more.  Meet and network with other new Moms whose situations are similar to your own. GRANDPARENTS AS CAREGIVERS

Wednesday, January 18 at 1 p.m.

Nationwide, millions of children are being raised solely by grandparents and/or other relatives, and this number is rising.  Grandparent caregivers face particular challenges. In this session, Kathelee Holahan, MSW, LCSW, and Janis Marler, MSW, LSW, will discuss the  unique challenges “grandfamilies” are dealing with and what community resources are available to assist them.  This program, for ages 50 and older, will be held at SCAN Learning Center at Routes 35 and 36, Monmouth Mall, Eatontown. This class serves as an introduction for prospective mothers and fathers on the process and techniques of breastfeeding. GESTATIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM

This one-session class is for women who have developed gestational diabetes during pregnancy.

Participants will learn how gestational diabetes develops, the link between diet and blood glucose, how to plan healthy meals and how to use a blood glucose meter for home monitoring.  A free blood glucose meter starter kit will be provided.  This program will be held at the Center for Diabetes Education at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Avenue in Long Branch.
