Veterans & Community Invited 

Lincroft, NJ  – It was in 1941, 70 years ago, that Pearl Harbor was attacked and “Lest We Forget,” Brookdale’s Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution will remember America’s veterans with a 70th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Commemoration to be held Saturday, December 10 in the Warner Student Life Center. The community and especially families are encouraged to attend and pay tribute to the Greatest Generation. Groups are also welcome.

Two distinguished veteran speakers will address the audience; Ralph Jeffers, former Chairman, NJ Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Veteran Crewman USS Curtiss and Thomas Mahoney, Former President, Chapter 2 NJ Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Veteran Crewman, also from the USS Curtiss.

The afternoon’s keynote speakers will be Col. Joseph E. Whitlock, deputy base commander, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, followed by Capt. David J. Harrison, commander, US Naval Weapon’s Station, Earle.

Historical perspective will be provided by history professors Dr. Robert Mayer, Kean University and Fred Fraterrigo, Brookdale Community College.

A variety of historical displays and exhibits will be available for viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Music of the era will play throughout the afternoon featuring keyboardist Barry Rosenzweig and soloist Gilda Healy from the group “Down Melody Land. Also singing favorites from the war years will be the Monmouth Battleground Chorus.

The event is free. Parking is most convenient in lots 6 and 7. The College is located at 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.
