Middletown & Eatontown, N.J. – The Women’s Council of the Middletown Township Lions Club will host a holiday gift-wrapping fundraiser at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 180 Route 35 South in The Monmouth Mall, Eatontown. The store is located directly behind Chili’s Restaurant at the intersection of Routes 35 & 36. The event, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and again on Saturday, December 10 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., will benefit two organizations that serve and advocate for women and assist them at the most vulnerable times in their lives – 180, Turning Lives Around and The Beauty Foundation for Women’s Cancer Care. 180, Turning Lives Around is dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence through an extensive network of support services, including the Domestic Violence Crisis Response Team, which help clients deal with the trauma they have experienced. The Beauty Foundation for Women’s Cancer Care exists to remove the financial burdens associated with cancer that are not covered by insurance including childcare, transportation, and other expenses, allowing patients and their families to focus on surviving the disease.

The general public can assist by bringing their purchases to the gift-wrapping tables, where Lion volunteers will wrap in exchange for donations. Cash and checks will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to the Middletown Lions Club. Those who cannot visit the store can send donations to P.O. Box 75, Middletown, N.J. 07748 with a note that the donation is for the Women’s Council Holiday Gift-Wrapping Fundraiser.

The Middletown Lions Club, chartered in 1946 under Lions International, is a volunteer service organization consisting of caring men and women who help the community through various charitable service and fundraising initiatives and programs. The Women’s Council was formed by current Lion President Lori Anne Oliwa to assess the needs of women and families in the community and then to help meet those needs through service projects, targeted fundraising events, and by supporting non-profit organizations whose mission is to empower and advocate for women.
