MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Saturday, August 13, brought beautiful weather to over 100 racers in the 17th Annual Woods Hollow Classic Mountain Bike Race that led bikers through the open fields and woodlands of Tatum Park in Middletown. The Beginner’s Class rode a total of 7.5 miles. In the men’s beginner class Cristofer Catong of Ocean Township took first place with a time of 38:59, with Derek Backofen of Lincroft right behind him for second place with a time of 39:51. Suzanne Mandell of Monmouth Beach took first place in the women’s beginner class with a time of 47:57, and Jenn Horn of Red Bank took second with a time of 50:22.

The Sport Class was for more intermediate or advanced mountain bike riders who rode 11.25 miles total. Coming in first for the men’s sport class was John Arias from Little Silver with a time of 46:50, with Ross Anderson from Point Pleasant following close behind in second place with a time of 46:51. In the women’s sport class Kerri Martin of Ocean Grove came in first with a time of 1:14:48. Christine Gozick of West Long Branch placed second with a time of 1:24:05.
