WALL, NJ - Legislation sponsored by Assembly Republican Whip Dave Rible and Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini which appropriates funds for local government open space and park development projects has been signed into law by Governor Chris Christie.

“Our parks are an essential part of our communities and are integral to our quality of life,” said Rible. “Parks provide a place for residents to gather, exercise, and enjoy the beauty of New Jersey.”

The measure appropriates $84,495,199 from “2009 Green Acres Fund” and “Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund” to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to provide grants or low-interest loans, or both, to assist local government units in the State to acquire or develop lands for recreation and conservation purposes.

“I applaud the Governor and the entire New Jersey Legislature for coming together to pass this important legislation,” said Angelini. “We must preserve the land we have in our state and protect our natural resources.”

Bill A-4052 was passed unanimously in both the Senate and the General Assembly.
