FARMINGDALE, NJ - The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore welcomed five new board members during its Annual Meeting on May 19.

Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, Colleen Connolly, Maureen Crinigan, Patricia Downs and Rhonda Figeroa joined the Board of Directors as members-at-large with two-year terms. They join returning board members Robin Fitzmaurice, Karen Kavanagh, Helene Koseff, Marie Lucier-Woodruff, Janet Malkemes, Anne Nachman and Rosalind Seawright, all elected to serve an additional two years. Also rejoining the board is JoAnn McCann, previously serving as immediate past president and continuing on as a member-at-large.

Each new board member brings a unique background and expertise to the board, which is tasked with providing guidance and support as the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore implements programs to help more than 15,000 girls in Monmouth and Ocean counties become young women of courage, confidence and character. The Girl Scouts are always seeking volunteers at every level, from community members who can only give a few hours at a time to those willing to make a year-long commitment to supporting girls in their town. Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, Colts Neck

Assemblywoman Casagrande serves in the New Jersey General Assembly where she represents the 12th legislative district. She is honorary co-chair of Troop New Jersey, a troop made up of women in the state legislature.

Casagrande earned a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa. with a major in political science, and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law, Camden, N.J. Prior to her election as assemblywoman, Casagrande was a partner/attorney with the law firm of Menna, Supko & Casagrande in Shrewsbury, N.J.

Colleen Connolly, Toms River

Colleen Connolly is regional vice president at OceanFirst Bank in Toms River, N.J. She served on the 2011 Women of Achievement Committee. She attended St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, N.J. where she received her bachelor of science degree in business management.

Connolly was the volunteer fundraising/event coordinator for the Institute for Children with Cancer & Blood Disorders in New Brunswick, N.J. from 2005-2008 and worked on the United Way of Ocean County Allocation Committee from 2008-2009. She also volunteered for the March of Dimes from 2003-2009.

Maureen Crinigan, Bayville 

Maureen Crinigan served on the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Ocean County from 2006-2007. She currently serves as vice president of the Order of the Evergreen. As a troop leader from 1984-2007, Crinigan has led Girl Scouts on trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and to the 2001 Girl Scout National Convention in Long Beach, Calif.

Crinigan received her associate’s degree in liberal arts from Suffolk Community College, Long Island, N.Y. and earned her bachelor’s degree in history from New York University, New York, N.Y.

Crinigan is also a worker and fund raiser for Habitat for Humanity and works on environmental projects with Berkeley Homeowners Association. She also finds time to volunteer for March of Dimes and the American Heart Association.

Patricia Downs, Toms River

Patricia Downs is currently a member of the Board Development and Fund Development Committees. She has served on the Women of Distinction Committee from 2008 to the present and on the Award Luncheon Committee from 2007-2009. Downs is a former member-at-large on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Ocean County where she was involved in various other committees, including serving as Co-Chair of the Ocean County Cheerleading Committee.

Downs is a former leader of a Brownie troop. 

Downs attended Ocean County College, Toms River, N.J. as a nursing major, and Monmouth University, West Long Branch, N.J. as a paralegal major. She has been in the banking industry, concentrating in the lending field, since 1981 and is now vice president, senior loan administrator for Harmony Bank, Jackson, N.J. Downs has also been affiliated with Buddy Walk, South Plainfield, N.J. for the past eight years.

Rhonda Figeroa, Howell

Rhonda Figeroa is corporate secretary at New Jersey Resources Corp. in Wall Township, N.J. She is involved in New Jersey Resources Project Mentor program and leader of New Jersey Resources Diversity Council. Figeroa is chair of the Governance Committee of the Music Parents Association of Howell and a lector at St. Anthony Claret in Lakewood, N.J. Figeroa is also a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals. 

Figeroa holds a master of business administration degree from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, N.J. and a bachelor of arts degree in business/marketing from Stockton State College, Stockton, Calif.
