To Benefit the PBA Local 10 Scholarship Fund in Memory of our Fallen Officers

LONG BRANCH, NJ - On Saturday, April 23, 2011 the Jersey Shore Running Club will host our 21st annual 5K Run on the promenade and boardwalk in Long Branch, overlooking the scenic Atlantic Ocean. Since 1994, the event has benefitted Long Branch PBA Local 10 scholarships. Our hope is that we will have a large turnout from the community to join us in remembering all of Long Branch's fallen officers.

Start of past Celltic Tribute 5K

The 5K race course is completely flat and fast. We also have the NephCure Two Mile Family Walk along the same course, and kid's races of various distances. Amenities include T‑shirts to participants and everyone will enjoy the post-race refreshments while awaiting the awards ceremony, raffles and grand prize drawing. All are then invited to a free post-race Pasta Party at the Celtic Cottage, a local pub and eatery.

In the 5K, we offer 5-Year Age Group awards, in addition, we are encouraging the participation of area police departments and law enforcement groups by challenging them to a competition: there will be awards to the first 5 Law enforcement finishers, both male and female, and awards to the PBA Local and the Law Enforcement Agency with the most participants and the PBA that traveled the furthest.

The 5K race is being sponsored by Long Branch PBA #10 with proceeds benefiting the PBA Local 10 Scholarship Fund in Memory of our Fallen Officers, for scholarships to deserving graduates at Long Branch High School. This year, proceeds from the walk will benefit the NephCure Foundation helping in the research battle against kidney failure in children. Last year the event had just over 900 participants and we were able to raise over $19,000.

The 5K Run will begin at 11:00am, followed by a 2 Mile Family Walk at 11:05am, and Children's age group races at 11:45am. Post-Registration will take place the day of the race beginning at 9:30am. Entry forms are available at several running stores in the area, or can be downloaded from the website: Please call Race Director Philip Hinck, 732-571-2162 for more information.
