LINCROFT— Calling all gardeners and those interested in learning more about this rewarding hobby! The Monmouth County Park System is hosting two free Pruning Trees and Shrubs workshops for prospective gardening volunteers at the Thompson Park Visitor Center, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Both workshops will be held from 9am-12noon and cover correct pruning techniques, tools and safety. Open to ages 14 and up, sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 14.

Gardening is fun, social and great exercise. Volunteers will enjoy the flexibility of the Park System’s Drop-In Volunteers Days. Held April through October, volunteers are invited to show up at their convenience and participate. The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesdays at Dorbrook Recreation Area, Colts Neck
  • Wednesdays at Thompson Park, Lincroft
  • Thursdays at Huber Woods Park, Middletown
  • Wednesdays & Saturdays at Deep Cut Gardens, Middletown.

Drop-In Volunteer Days hours are 9am-12noon at all locations. Please note that volunteers at Deep Cut Gardens must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers do not need to attend the training session to be part of the Drop-In Volunteer Days. On-site training will be provided as needed.
