FREEHOLD, NJ - As part of its “Historically Speaking” lecture series, Monmouth County Historical Association is pleased to welcome award-winning photographer George Tice to speak on Sunday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m.  The lecture will be held in the first floor exhibition gallery at the Association’s Headquarters, 70 Court Street, Freehold.  Mr. Tice will speak on “Lifework,” a project that will provide a retrospective of his photography from 1953 through 2010.

George Tice, a resident of Middletown, is a tenth generation New Jerseyan.  He began photographing in 1953 when he joined a local camera club and since then has published his work and seen it exhibited around the world.  His photographs are included in over 80 public collections worldwide and his many exhibitions include one-man shows at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in England; and The International Center of Photography.  Of his many books of photographs, the most celebrated are Fields of Peace (1970), Paterson (1972) and George Tice:  Urban Landscapes (2002). He was recently presented with the Honor Book Award from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities for Urban Landscapes.  Mr. Tice will have some of his books available for purchase including Ticetown, a result of his quest to find his ancestors.

The lecture is open to the public and admission is free.  Refreshments will be served following Mr. Tice’s presentation.
