Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer

Tuesday, March 15th 12:00 - 1:00 pm

At Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ

Cancers of the colon and rectum are the third most common cancers in the United States. Treatment advances over the past five years have led to increased wellness. Learn about current guidelines for screening and early detection, the latest information on treatment, strategies for managing symptoms and side-effects, and discuss the emotional challenges of colorectal cancer. Our expert guest speakers are Rada Shakov, MD and Sherry Laniado, LCSW. Lunch will be provided. Must call 732-578-9200 to pre-register.

 

Managing Your Medical Bills

Tuesday, March 15th 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Do you need help or have questions about your medical bills, insurance claims, or processing claim appeals? Denise Sikora, Patient Advocate and President of DL Health Claim Solutions, LLC, will offer her expertise to help reduce the stress of dealing with financial issues during free monthly drop in sessions. Organizational tools will be provided.

Organic Gardening: Planning & Planting

Thursday, March 24th 2:30 - 3:30 pm

Wendy Weiner, The Front Yard Farmer, shares her expertise in organic vegetable gardening. Join us as we learn to make a connection to the earth and experience the satisfaction of growing our own food. Bring your gardening questions.

Welcome to Wellness:

These informal meetings provide an opportunity for individuals with cancer, family members and friends to learn more about The Wellness Community and the free programs we offer.

 

Support Groups
Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, Breast and Gynecologic Cancers, Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Cancers (Co-sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), Living Beyond Cancer, and Prostate Cancer.  A bi-monthly Family & Friends Networking Group is also available.

 

Participant Group

On-going, committed weekly group where adults with cancer can offer support to one another and explore new ways of coping with the challenges of cancer and enhance the quality of their lives.
A brief interview is necessary before joining this group.

All groups are facilitated by licensed professionals.
