MANALAPAN, NJ -The Township of Manalapan is pleased to announce the holding of its third annual photo contest. The 2011 theme is “Celebrations” – a very broad theme that will be looking for pictures depicting a celebration of some nature. Last years very successful contest which was themed “Fur, Feathers and Fins” drew 87 entries.
The contest is open to all Manalapan residents. Photographs do not need to be taken in Manalapan. The photograph could be of any event that in the eyes of the photographer is a celebration .
“We encourage all Manalapan residents to consider submitting a photo. Whether it is of a family event, a competitive event or just the simple celebration of a sunrise - all photos are welcome. We want to make it as difficult as possible on our Judges.” Said Mayor Andrew Lucas. “I am appreciative of the Manalapan Arts Council assuming the stewardship of the contest again this year and want to personally thank Judith Tolchin and Barbara Miller for agreeing to co-chair the project. I still look at the photos from the 2010contest which are displayed in our Council Chambers Meeting Room and am so impressed with the talents of this community.”
Township residents can only enter one photo. Photographs must include a brief description (25 words or less) and the location/event of the photo. Awards will be given in the following categories: <12 years old, 12-17 years of age and adult (18 years of age and over). All photos will be on display at the Manalapan Under the Stars community event on June 11, 2011 where a special “Peoples Choice” award will be given to the photograph that garners the most votes that day from the visiting and judging public.
