Honoring Retired Superior Court Judge Norman J. Peer
FREEHOLD, NJ - Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Monmouth County, Inc. announces its 6th Annual Voices for Children Gala to be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The event will take place from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at the Navesink Country Club at 50 Luffburrow Lane in Middletown, NJ. Proceeds from the Gala will directly benefit the CASA program.
Through its annual Gala, CASA for Children recognizes Monmouth County leaders who have made a difference in the community and in the lives of children in need. This year’s honoree is Retired Superior Court Judge Norman J. Peer for his distinguished career in public service spanning more than four decades. He also served as the lead judge in the Children in Court Calendar, often hearing difficult cases of abuse and neglect presented by the Division of Youth and Family Services. He is currently specializing in mediation and arbitration at Lomurro, Davison, Eastman & Munoz, P.A.
Cynthia Van Brunt, CASA for Children Executive Director, says “We are so fortunate that Judge Peer has agreed to be honored and help us raise awareness about our work as child advocates. This is sure to be an amazing evening!”
Dawn Kate serves as the CASA Gala Chair for the first time. With her past chairing experience, she has contributed innovative and exciting ideas. This year, the main venue’s whimsical decor will include beautiful gilt-framed children’s artwork and lighted floral centerpieces. Guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while having the opportunity to view the silent auction items and make bids, and then continue on to dinner and dancing with live music by Brian Kirk and the Jirks. Guests are then invited to bid on incredible live auction items, including an excursion on a 70 foot yacht, courtesy of Jim Bell Sr. of Abel HR Services. CASA also extends a special thank you to the event sponsors Lomurro Davison, Eastman & Munoz, P.A and Ernst & Young for their tremendous support.
Tax-deductible tickets to this delightful evening are $175. Additional opportunities are available for sponsorship tables, journal ads, underwriting opportunities and silent auction donations. Members of the press are welcome.
Proceeds of the evening will provide support for CASA for Children of Monmouth County, a non-profit charitable organization which works through professionally trained and supervised volunteers to promote the welfare of foster children in Monmouth County who have been removed from their homes because of extreme parental abuse, neglect or abandonment. There are currently 351 children in MC’s foster care system. Last year, CASA provided advocates for 151 of these children, working to ensure that needed services and assistance are provided while helping to move the child toward a safe and permanent home.
