Freeholders to discuss 2011 spending plan

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Board of Chosen Freeholders has scheduled public budget sessions to gather information from department heads as well as Monmouth County residents.

A budget workshop meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Feb. 2. in the conference room on the second floor of the Hall of Records, Main Street and include budget presentations by county staff. Other workshop sessions may be scheduled.

Evening public information sessions on the budget have been scheduled.  The first will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan, and the second will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at the Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury. These sessions will include an overview of the county budget for 2011.

The 2011 county budget is scheduled to be introduced on Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Board of Chosen Freeholders meeting. There will be a formal public hearing prior to the scheduled budget adoption on Thursday, March 24.

The public is invited to attend all budget sessions. Public comment will be taken at the evening sessions and at the formal public hearing.
