WELCOME MESSAGE

provides news and information about The Jewel of the Bayshore. 1000's of

Message Forum. PLUS a Business Directory for easy reference.

The Lenape Woods Coalition Website is dedicated to preserving open space
in Northern Monmouth County, especially in the Navesink section of
Middletown where there remains one of the only open tracts of land along
Rte. 36. The site contains news and information about the Lenape Woods
Coalition - an organization of neighborhood associations and individuals
residents thoughout the Navesink Highlands area.

2. ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS PLANNING BOARD HEARS BURGER KING PROPOSAL

The Atlantic Highlands Planning Board is hearing an application for a new
Burger King Drive-Thru restaurant which will be located in the vacant lots
next to the Atlantic Highlands Shell Station on Rte. 36 in the Borough.
The Planning Board will take up the application again at its next meeting,
August 12, 1999 at 7:30. For more information about the proposal visit

3. LENAPE WOODS COALITION PLANNING A BENEFIT SOFTBALL GAME IN NAVESINK

The Lenape Woods Coalition is sponsoring a benefit Softball game Saturday
July 31, 1999. In March, the Monmouth Conservation Foundation signed a
1-yr purchase option agreement with Mr. Bahr for property located along
both sides of Rte 36. They agreed to pay taxes and hire appraisers and do
an environmental report. The hope is that the Middletown Open Space
Committee will put the property on their priority list for state Green
Acres Funding at their meeting August 4, 1999.

Lenape Woods Coalition said they would help raise funds to pay for
appraisals and plans are being made to hold a benefit Softball Game on
July 31, 1999. The game will serve to highlight the need for active
recreational facilities in this part of Middletown Township For more

4. ATLANTIC HIGHALNDS COUNCILMAN DWAYNE HARRIS IS DEMOCRATIC ASSEMBLY
CANDIDATE IN 11TH DISTRICT

The Monmouth County Democratic Party has nominated Dwayne Harris of
Atlantic Highlands as their candidate in the 11th district race. Steve
Corodemus, also of Atlantic Highlands will be running on the Republican
ticket with running mate Thomas Smith.
Harris, who works as a manager for Taco Bell, has been a Boro Councilman for 6 months.

5. SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS MARINA

The Atlantic Highlands Recreation Department is sponsoring the Summer
Concert Series. Most performances are held Sunday evening at 7:30. For
