ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Are you smarter than a Catholic school fifth grader? Several students at area Catholic schools are putting their teachers to the test. On January 30, 2012 during the annual Catholic Schools Week celebration, schools in the bayshore area are coming together to raise funds for the Foundation for Student Achievement. The mission of the Foundation for Student Achievement is to provide the means for an exceptional Catholic education for children from families in financial need, inspiring them to realize their potential through the education and development of the mind, body and spirit. The contest among the school is based on the popular game show “Are You Smarter than A Fifth Grader.” MTRS will host the event and has invited one fifth grade student from each of the following schools, Mother Teresa Regional School, St. Benedict, St. Leo the Great, and St. Rose of Lima. The students are Steven Clagett, Kerry Harper, Christopher Dinh, and Andrew Colannino. The faculty representatives are Kimberley Reddan, Peg Lewis, Julia Wihs, and Karen Rittenbach. Fr. Will Dunlap of Saint Agnes Parish will also be participating. The contestant who earns the most “money” will win a trophy for their school. “We are pleased to have this event again during Catholic Schools Week. It is a great event to showcase our Catholic Schools and come together for a great cause.” stated Melissa Whelan Wisk, principal at Mother Teresa Regional School. The event begins at 7:00 pm and admission is $1. For more information on the event contact Melissa Whelan Wisk at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
