The State of New Jersey and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are committed to providing the most relevant information to survivors of Hurricane Sandy. If you have any questions, visit a Disaster Recovery Center near you or call the toll-free FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DISASTER LOAN KEY TO RECOVERYRecovery from Hurricane Sandy means a lot of chores such as hauling off debris and completing a Small Business Administration loan application. Turning in a SBA loan application may open the door to FEMA grants. Homeowners and renters who receive SBA loan applications must return them to be considered for FEMA and state assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses. Homeowners approved for a SBA loan may be able to borrow additional money to rebuild stronger and smarter to protect their house from future disasters. THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE YOU NEED TO CONTACT FEMANew Jersey survivors who told FEMA housing inspectors they would not relocate are still able to apply for temporary housing assistance. If it’s been less than 30 days since you got a FEMA determination letter, you can call FEMA at 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585 and say your housing situation has changed and you need housing assistance. If it’s been more than 30 days, you’ll need to send a letter to FEMA stating that you now need FEMA housing assistance.
