ASBURY PARK, NJ – May 2, 2013 - Twelve girls from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County’s (BGCM) Red Bank and Asbury Park Units were surprised by Univision’s 2012 “Nuestra Belleza Latina” titleholder, Vanessa de Roide, with a trip to New York City for makeovers on Tuesday, April 30th.  The girls will be featured in the next episode of “Nuestra Belleza Latina” that airs on Sunday, May 5th at 8pm on Univision (Channel 41).

Tubay surprised the BGCM girls at the Asbury Park Unit with a limo to whisk them off to the city for a fun filled day.  The girls, alongside the eight 2013 “Nuestra Belleza Latina” finalists, received makeovers sponsored by Maybelline and Univision.  Each girl had their hair and makeup done courtesy of Maybelline hair and makeup artists, and had an outfit specifically styled to their taste and personality.

Throughout the day, the Maybelline artists, Univision staff, and "Nuestra Belleza Latina" finalists provided the girls a chance to discuss self-esteem and inner beauty with positive, strong female role models.  Once the makeovers were complete, the girls participated in a Maybelline photo shoot with the finalists, and headed out to Time Square to shoot a commercial for Maybelline.

“Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty) is a beauty pageant competition and reality show produced by Univision, a leading media company serving Hispanic America.

The twelve girls, ages, 13-18, are members of BGCM’s SMART Girls, a healthy lifestyle and self-esteem encouragement program,  and many are also members of College Bound, a college preparedness, mentor, and scholarship program.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County provides safe places for young people in Monmouth County, especially those who need us most, where they can receive programs and services that will help them realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  Please visit www.bgcmonmouth.org for more info.
